Common ethical violations:

Plagiarism: presenting the work of others as your own without giving them proper credit through citations or references.

Fabrication: creating, tabulating, presenting and publishing data that does not exist.

Falsification involves modifying or manipulating data or procedures to produce desired results.

Duplication, or self-plagiarism, involves publishing all or a representative part of the structure and content of an article in two or more different media, regardless of the medium in which it is published (electronic or paper). An article is considered to have been duplicated if it does not contribute new knowledge to the topic under discussion.

To avoid committing these serious offences, authors must thoroughly research the topic, understand its particularities and variations, and properly reference information from other sources.

It is not recommended that authors use any text verbatim; however, if they do so, the text must be placed in quotation marks and accompanied by the respective reference to the authors and source.

If plagiarism is detected in any articles submitted to the journal Investigación en Desarrollo y Gerencia Integral de Proyectos (IDGIP), the editorial committee will immediately cancel the double-blind review process for the document in question, notify those responsible and take the appropriate disciplinary action in accordance with the current postgraduate student regulations of the Colombian School of Engineering Julio Garavito or the participating institution (in the case of student authors). Articles from the authors involved will not be accepted in future.

Ethical considerations in publications:

Conflicts of interest arise when one or more of the authors has a personal or financial relationship with the editor or one of the peer reviewers, which may influence the outcome of the review process in terms of acceptance or rejection.

To avoid this serious breach of ethics, authors and peer reviewers must not know each other before, during or after the double-blind review process. This ensures independence throughout the process.

If the editor, any of the authors or peer reviewers identify any conflict of interest during the review process, they must notify the editorial committee, stop the review process and assign other peer reviewers to the article.

Right to privacy and confidentiality: Individuals, groups of individuals and organisations have the right to privacy and confidentiality with regard to data collected for research purposes. Authors must properly handle sensitive data such as names, contact information, titles and opinions. Unless it is absolutely necessary and the participant has given their formal authorisation, participant data must be handled confidentially.

IDGIP's Research in Development and Comprehensive Project Management does not include articles resulting from experimentation with human beings or living beings in general.

Regarding the double-blind review and evaluation process, neither the Editor nor the peer reviewers (jury) must:

  • Commenting on, disclosing or communicating the information contained in the articles, critiques, recommendations or results of the double-blind review and evaluation to any person outside the process, by any means.
  • Copying and sharing, in whole or in part, the content of the received articles.
  • Sharing your personal data with the authors.

Only the editor and peer reviewers will be aware of the content of the articles and the details of the process. At the end of the process, authors will receive a document containing the critiques, recommendations and final decision.

Punctuality: If any of the selected peer reviewers do not feel qualified to review an article, they must promptly inform the Editor, stating that it is impossible for them to carry out the review.
