This article analyzes an excavation and shoring project carried out on an alluvial terrace characterized by complex geotechnical conditions associated with heterogeneous materials and the effects of recent tectonic activity. Based on the project description and subsoil investigation, the design criteria and containment strategies adopted to ensure ground stability and deformation control during the different construction stages are evaluated. The study incorporates stability analyses and considerations regarding the excavation sequence, drainage, and load management, highlighting the influence of the alluvial deposit’s genesis on the soil-structure system’s response. The results and observations obtained allow the identification of critical aspects for the design and execution of excavations in this type of geological context, providing practical recommendations aimed at risk reduction and safe performance of the works. The work constitutes a technical contribution based on applied experience, relevant to projects developed on alluvial terrain.
