The food industry in Bogotá, D.C., is a cornerstone of the country's economic development, characterized by high production levels and strict quality standards. However, it faces challenges in efficiency,
sustainability, and innovation. In this context, Lean Project Management (LPM) emerges as an alternative to optimize resources in product development projects.
This study analyzes the applicability of LPM in product development projects within Bogotá’s food industry, aiming to identify its level of use, the main challenges in its implementation, and opportunities for improvement. The research is based on a questionnaire administered to industry professionals, which helps identify patterns, practical challenges, and improvement opportunities related to the management of products, processes, and teams.
The results reveal that the surveyed companies are familiar with LPM, and the level of application is moderate. There are ongoing efforts to reduce waste and improve efficiency, but a structured approach has not yet been consolidated. An organizational culture that supports continuous improvement is identified; however, there is still rigid management of roles and responsibilities. Among the main challenges are the lack of specialized training and resistance to change.
