Author Guidelines

Guidelines for authors

The Journal of Research in Development and Comprehensive Project Management (IDGIP) has established guidelines for authors that set out the editorial, ethical and presentation criteria that all manuscripts submitted for evaluation must adhere to.

Articles must comply with APA citation standards (7th edition) and adhere to the scientific structure appropriate to the document type (research article, reflection or review).

Authors are responsible for ensuring the originality of the content, the proper citation of sources, and compliance with COPE's ethical standards of publication.

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the manuscript being rejected or returned for adjustments.

  1. Instructions for authors:

The following are the requirements for submitting articles to the Journal of Research in Development and Comprehensive Project Management. Articles should be submitted as a single MS Word (.doc or .docx) file to enable them to be sent through the double-blind review process (where the authors do not know the peer reviewers). The body of the article must contain the most important sections. The sections that must or must not be included in the article are detailed below. For more information on the article's format, see the 'Content and format of the article' section.

1) Scope, ethics and originality:

Manuscripts must be original, unpublished and not submitted to other journals simultaneously.

The journal applies a double-blind peer review process and adheres to good editorial practices (COPE).

  • Citation style: APA, 7th edition.

Failure to comply with these guidelines may result in the manuscript being returned or rejected.

2) Types of manuscripts accepted:

  • Scientific and technological research articles
  • Reflection articles
  • Review articles
  • Short articles
  • Case reports
  • Topic reviews
  • Letters to the Editor

The following are not accepted: editorials, translations, bibliographic reviews or reflections that are not derived from research.

3) Submission and required files (double-blind):

When submitting your article, you must attach two documents: the manuscript cover page and the complete article. This ensures that the evaluation is double-blind.

Document 1: Cover page of the manuscript (Portada).

Document 2: Complete article (Plantilla del artículo)

4) Manuscript structure

See details in the (Plantilla del artículo)

5) The format and preparation of the text.

Language:

Articles may be written in Spanish or English and must include references in the same language as the text. If the article is written in Spanish, an abstract and keywords must also be provided in English. The correct use of Spanish or English will be a determining factor in the decision to publish.

Authorship of the article

Before submitting, authors should decide who will be listed and in what order. Investigación en Desarrollo y Gerencia Integral de Proyectos will accept the list of authors that appears in the initial submission as the final one. Any changes to the number or order of authors must be notified promptly and justified in writing. Once the article has been accepted, no changes in this regard will be authorised.

6) Citation style and references (APA, 7th edition).

All references must be carefully reviewed and appear in the final section of the article in the current APA format.

In-text citations: Author, year. For ≥3 authors: 'Author et al., year.'

  • Reference list: Only include works cited in the text, and arrange them in alphabetical order by author.
  • Verify the DOI/URL when applicable. Use uniform upper/lower case and italics according to APA.

7) Submission

To submit an article to the journal Investigación en Desarrollo y Gerencia Integral de Proyectos, you must use the Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform at revistas.escuelaing.edu.co. The platform will guide you through the entire submission process, from initial submission to final decision, corrections and publication. The following documents are required during the OJS submission process:

  • Original article (preferably in MS Word format), formatted according to the content and style guidelines
  • Proof of originality
  • Letter of authorisation for publication
  • Transfer of copyright

The OJS system will also request information about whether the article belongs to a completed or ongoing research project, its title, and its sources of funding. You can download the corresponding template at the following link: Template guide for articles

8) Data, reproducibility and permissions:

  • Declare the availability of data/code (in the text or in a data note).

Attach evidence of permissions for third-party material (e.g. graphics, images, instruments).

If the study requires ethical approval, attach a certificate or describe the approving committee.

9) Editorial process and timelines:

The journal manages the entire workflow in OJS, ensuring full traceability.

- Estimated duration of the evaluation process (submission to decision): 45–75 calendar days (6–10 weeks), depending on complexity and reviewer availability.

Possible decisions include acceptance, acceptance with minor changes, major revision or rejection.

  • Authors must respond to comments by the deadline indicated by the publisher and upload revised versions to OJS.

10) Rights, access and fees

The journal is open access and does not charge article processing charges (APCs).

  • Licensing: Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY).
  • Authors retain moral rights, but assign economic rights for the publication and distribution of the article under the terms of the licence.

11) Checklist before submission:

  • Two files: A cover page with data and a blind manuscript without authorship data or metadata.
  • ORCIDs for all authors and CRediT roles must be declared.

- Conflicts of interest, funding and ethical approvals (if applicable) are declared.

- Abstract (≤200 words) and 5–8 keywords in English.

  • APA 7th edition format for citations and references (with DOI/URL where applicable).

- Numbered figures and tables with clear, legible titles, sources and permissions.

Equations should be in editor format and numbered.

  • Text in Times New Roman 11 pt, with 2.54 cm margins and numbered sections (except Acknowledgements and References).
  • Anonymised manuscript and cleaned file metadata.

12) Peer review process

The Journal of Research in Development and Comprehensive Project Management employs a rigorous double-blind peer review process to ensure the quality, impartiality and relevance of its publications.

The process involves manuscript submission, initial editorial review, assignment of reviewers, acceptance of review and verification of changes.

Double-blind peer review = delivery of opinions = editorial decision = verification of changes

Final decision. See details in the 'Evaluation Process'.
